Single-use Equipment in the Tattoo Industry

How Tattoo People Keep You Safe

If you have ever walked into a tattoo studio, you might have noticed single-use plastics and disposables covering the artists’ workstations. In the tattoo industry, single-use plastics are used as barriers to cover the seats, armrests, lamps, and lights during the tattoo session. The artists also use disposable needles and ink caps and this is actually how we keep you safe.

  • In a tattoo shop where the risk of transmitting blood-borne pathogens is high, single-use plastics and disposables help prevent the spread of infections and diseases, such as HIV, hepatitis B and C, and staph infections.

  • Single-use needles and razors can help reduce the risk of contracting diseases and bacterial skin infections.

  • To prevent the transfer of germs, the workstations are covered in plastic film, including the tattoo machine and its cord, and at all points of touch for the artist. This is then disposed of between clients to prevent cross-contamination.

  • At the beginning of your tattoo session, you will be able to observe the artist opening a new package of needles and setting up brand new ink caps as pallets, which are also all disposed of safely after each session.

  • Some of the single-use disposables include tattoo needles, ink caps, razors, and stencils.
