Seesun - the freehand tattooist

We are excited to bring you an interview with our featured artist of the month, Seesun! Seesun is a freehand artist who specializes in oriental floral designs. She uses her signature vibrant colours and she freehands her tattoos based on the contours of each client's body. We hope you enjoy getting to know Seesun and learning more about her passion for tattooing!

Q. What inspires your tattoo design?

“I find inspiration from all the things I face each day. It could be an old friend or a family, a stranger I meet on the street, a delicious meal and a beautiful sky, fragrance from the flowers, could be from a movie I watched 10 years ago, or even a song I listened to for the first time today. I believe inspiration is something you can get from anywhere if you have the will to see and get :) “

Q. What is your process for working with clients to design custom tattoos?

As everyone’s body is formed with unique curves of their own, I prefer to tattoo after sketching out the design along the curves of their body and I especially enjoy seeing the drawing wrapping around the body. I prefer to show expressions depending on the client’s image and disposition, which may be tough and lively, or sometimes in soft and static ways. 

Q. What do you love most about being a tattoo artist?

t’s the fact that I could be a part of changing someone’s life. This may sound too grand but a person can gain and display various images with a small tattoo. Whether it’d be cute, sexy, religious, or meaningful, it could cover old wounds and bloom new flowers, it could also become a motivation and help gain confidence. The fact that I am creating an accessory attached as closely as it can get to a person, which is also ever-changing depending on the body’s movement and throughout each moment in time, makes tattooing just so interesting and enjoyable.
